Two ways to Everest Base Camp, on the same dates. Most of us go via Gokyo: turquoise lakes, a 5,420 m pass called Cho La, then Base Camp and sunrise on Kala Patthar. The stronger group crosses all Three Passes with Peter.
We fly by helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla and back, so we don't lose days to flight delays. Want more? Add Island Peak, 6,189 m, with a climbing guide.

Spring in the Khumbu: rhododendrons in bloom, warmer days, and Base Camp full of Everest teams getting ready for the summit.
A chain of turquoise lakes under Cho Oyu, among the highest freshwater lakes in the world. We rest here a day and climb Gokyo Ri for a view of Everest.
Cho La has a small glacier on top, so this is a trip for fit hikers. Then Everest Base Camp, and sunrise on Kala Patthar: the most famous view in the Himalaya.
A real summit to finish. Island Peak was first climbed in 1953 by the British Everest team, as training for Everest. Tenzing Norgay was one of them.

A rough plan for the Gokyo group. The Three Passes group splits off for a few days and meets us again.
Airport pickup, gear check, welcome dinner.
Fly in by helicopter, walk up the valley to Namche, and rest a day to adjust.
Slowly up the Gokyo valley. Rest day at the lakes and a climb up Gokyo Ri. The Three Passes group joins us here over Renjo La.
An early start over the 5,420 m pass and its small glacier.
Everest Base Camp, then sunrise on Kala Patthar with Everest turning gold.
Back down the valley and helicopter to Kathmandu. Spare day for weather, farewell dinner. Island Peak climbers stay 4 more days.
