Getting to Salt Lake City early for KubeCon? Join Peter Zaitsev, co-founder of Percona and founder of Geeks Go Peaks, for a climb up Mount Olympus. It’s about 11 km (7 miles) round trip with roughly 1,280 m (4,200 ft) of climbing. Plan for 8–10 hours with breaks, depending on the group and conditions.
This one is for fit, experienced hikers: a long, steep climb, then hands-on rock scrambling with exposed sections near the summit. You need to be comfortable with heights and a full day on your feet. November can bring snow and ice, so the summit attempt depends on weather and trail conditions.
Bring a headlamp, sturdy hiking footwear, warm layers, gloves, water, lunch and snacks. We’ll confirm any extra gear closer to the date. A mountain day before a week of conference conversations, and a good way to meet some cool people.
